CAD Models & Drawing Services

Solid models, schematics, and hard copy manufacturing drawings remain an integral part of manufacturing and repair shop processes, even in CNC environments.  The need for drawings and schematics is also apparent with equipment installation and commissioning operations.  Macek Power takes pride in its clean, neat, and correctly executed CAD products that adhere to established best practices and technical drawing standards.  We are one of the few service providers that pay attention to scaling, line weights, text height, and dimension placement as it used to be practiced in the years of drafting by hand.  We do this with both SolidWorks and AutoCAD software.

Reverse engineering, the products of which, are CAD solid models and/or detail drawings, is often necessary for replacement part manufacturing, or for engineering activities.  Reverse engineering almost always brings with it, the challenge of determining design intent.  Rarely are parts and component assemblies received in “like new” condition.  More commonly, parts and assemblies are worn, damaged, or deteriorated.

Determination of design intent is almost always part of the reverse engineering process.  It refers to the geometry and mechanical properties possessed by the component at the time it was manufactured.  In other words, it represents the complete specification of how a piece of hardware was originally manufactured.  Correctly determining design intent can be difficult.  Sometimes it is impossible to determine all of the necessary details with a sufficient degree of confidence.  Successful reverse engineering requires product knowledge, experience, and an understanding of assemblies and running clearances.  It also requires knowing when the job is better left to others.
